Happy In 'Dependence' Day is a poem written in free verse by PITY PARKER of DGH(21) section i.e student of III BA (English literature). This poem intends to explain the absence of Interdependence in this independent country. It also tries to paint the pictures  the societal ills in the present society satirizing the so called independence.

The Department of English, ALC mourns the death of the veteran ANGLO-INDIAN writer Vidiadhar Surajprasad Naipaul. His service rendered to the vast literary world especially India is enormous.

Sir Vidiadhar Surajprasad "Vidia" Naipaul, TC (17 August 1932 – 11 August 2018), was a Caribbean writer of Indo-Nepalese descent and Nobel Laureate who was born in Trinidad with British citizenship.[1] He is known for his comic early novels set in Trinidad and Tobago, his bleaker later novels of the wider world, and his autobiographical chronicles of life and travels. He published more than thirty books, both of fiction and nonfiction, over some fifty years.
